This is our UDH Bike Club.
Last weekend we closed out our riding season with a 20 Mile Social Group Ride covering all the roads of Udhailiyah.
Never have this many members ridden together at one time. Because most of the members of the group are spouses dividing child care also divides the riding times.....but not on this day. Our group has tripled maybe quadrupled in the last year as so many people have become interested in the sport. I think we surprised many a security guard and bystander as we passed in such a big group.
We all got sitters and headed out in the 4:30pm heat. No tricks were left undone in the 106 heat: ice in the insulated bottles and camel backs, extra water for dumping on ourselves, we soaked as much of our clothing as possible in water before the ride, and one wife followed us on a golf cart and sprayed us with a water gun.
I was a bit worried about being able to keep up in the heat but I had no problem. The pace was very social, meaning no one was dropped unless they wanted to be, and the men only showed off their sprinting skills a few times.
This was also the first time Chris and I have ridden together both on road bikes. We even had enough energy in us to ride for 20 more minutes after the group ride was over. Then we quickly showered to meet everyone for the closing Bike Club Dinner at our golf club. One of the members is retiring and produced some great biking related gifts for everyone that could answer his mishmash of trivia questions. All in all we had a wonderful afternoon and evening.

That is great, what a sight you all must have been. You've really been doing some great things there.
