I lived in Anchorage for 7 years and never knew about the Natural History Museum. It was a perfect inexpensive afternoon adventure.
What I liked about the museum was
IT WAS TOTALLY HANDS ON- bones, pelts, fossils, shells, etc. Only a few things were off limits.
The boys carried around clipboards with pictures of things they were to find throughout their visit. They loved marking them off with the dry erase marker as we went.
There were over sized microscopes and slides to look at, water experiments, and static electicity balls. They also made straw rockets and learned about Mars.

In the first picture of Ethan he looks alot like Marcus! I've never been there either. I love places that our hands on, its the best way for kids to learn (and grownups).
